Hatch - Wood Drop-out Ashtray

A creation of artist Michael Douglas Too.

Created as an homage to the most widely used ashtray in the country of Portugal: the sardine tin. Hatch contains a sardine tin ash tray base encased in a beautiful oak surround with deep notches cut to rest a lit cigarette. The best part about hatch is that the sardine tin can be easily dropped out of the oak surround for cleaning via the brass lever. Made from salvaged oak found near Gondomar and repurposed brass & sardine tin. Finished with shellac.

Width: 12 cm
Depth: 8 cm

This is a made to order piece, please allow up to 4 weeks for completion.

Each ashtray prevents 115 grams of wood & metal from ending up in a landfill
