Biodegradable Wood Finishes
During this 3 hour workshop artist Michael Douglas Too will introduce 4 different biodegradable wood finishes that can be used in a variety of different situations. At the end of the workshop you will walk away with material preparation instructions, detailed guidance on application and hands-on experience working with all four finishes on their own and in combination with each other to achieve the look, feel and level of protection you seek for your projects.
In this workshop you will…
-learn about the pros and cons of 4 different finishes: beeswax, shellac, linseed oil and tung oil
-go through step-by-step preparation of materials and finishes, including dilution ratios
-receive detailed guidance on application including techniques, sanding & drying/curing times
-apply all 4 finishes on their own and in combination with each other on repurposed pine wood
-learn how finishes respond to other common wood types such as oak, eucalyptus and more
