Designed for a more secure hold, the Hair Stick is an everyday essential. It stands at 12cm long and crafted from repurposed aluminum from a beeswax mold. Provides a firm hold for thin to thick hair types.

Each Tear Drop ring is crafted from a beeswax mold and casted using a zero-petroluem, low-waste sand casting process with upcycled aluminum. General wear and tear occurs especially with an everyday ring as aluminum is a soft metal, but the result is also beautiful. Tarnish-free, hypoallergenic and lightweight.

The Rectangular Ring is cast from upcycled aluminum using a zero-petroleum, low-waste sand casting process. Each piece is made to order and unique. Lightweight, hypoallergenic and tarnish-free.
With wear, the polished surface will slowly soften into a gentle matte. This is the nature of aluminum and the mark of a well-loved object. This ring takes 3 hours to create from start to finish.

The Essential Comb is a small 8,5cm x 3,5cm hair piece made from a beeswax mold and cast in repurposed aluminum. It can be used as a light-hold hairpin to secure an updo or as a comb on the go. Works well as a pin for thin to medium hair.
Made using a zero-petroleum sand casting process. Lightweight and tarnish-free.

The Curve Studs are small everyday earrings with a slight swoop at the back. Made using a zero-petroleum sand process with repurposed aluminum. Finished with cold connection rivet posts developed in studio.

Ever-changing offerings of experimental and one of a kind designs to be collected and cherished for years to come.
Sand cast from repurposed aluminum into small square forms, each cube is hand-engraved using a diamond bit and rotary tool totaling 12 hours of engraving.
Three small holes were drilled into each cube to suspend these beautiful misshapen seed pearls from a strand found at Lu’s favorite flea market in Porto. Suspended and finished with hand formed recycled Argentium silver staying true to the no-petroleum process.
These have a little more weight than other pieces but still wear well throughout the day.

A play on a hoop stud, these were sand cast and finished with a custom, hand-set post using a riveted cold connection method developed in studio. Lightweight and tarnish free.
One-of-a-kind perfectly weighted and studded bangle. Made from a carefully crafted beeswax mold and casted in a petroleum-free sand casting process.

The Drop Pendant is cast from a hand-formed beeswax mold using a low-waste sand casting process developed in studio. The three drops are attached with recycled Argentium sterling silver and were created through a water casting process.

A one-of-a-kind bangle cast during Lu’s early experiments with creating her own casting sand. The coarse grain left large marks across the surface and allowed for a small spill outside the intended curves of the bracelet creating the accent along the edges. A water-cast aluminum droplet hangs from a recycled Argentium silver jump ring.

These one of a kind studs feature another experiment in the process: the flat, water-cast drops that dangle below were created using a swiping technique when pouring the metal into the water creating the longer, thinner forms.

The Suspended Spill Ring started with an accident during casting. Molten aluminum spilled into the seam of the casting box leaving a flat surface with a small irregular overflow. Instead of cutting and filing it away, three holes were drilled into the surface and water-cast aluminum beads now hang from recycled Argentrium silver jump rings suspending above the surface.

The Faceted Drop Studs were made using multiple techniques. The sculptural top pieces were made from hand formed beeswax and casted into homemade no petroleum casting sand. The cascading misshapen rectangles are hand sawn from the first successful experiment in making aluminum sheet metal from the repurposed tire rims. The process to make these one of a kind earrings was 10 hours.
The stud tops are attached using a cold connection rivet post, developed in studio. Made from repurposed aluminum using a zero-petroleum sand casting process. Lightweight, tarnish-free and hypoallergenic.

The Droplet Studs feature a hand formed stud molded from beeswax and cast in repurposed aluminum using a no petroleum sand casting process. Four water-cast aluminum beads hang below and create the perfect amount of movement. Each bead is unique from its process.
Attached with recycled Argentium silver wire and finished with cold connection rivet posts developed in studio. Lightweight, tarnish-free and hypoallergenic.

The Bones Choker is made up of individually cast pieces of repurposed aluminum using a no petroleum and low waste process. Each piece is thinner in the middle and flat on the ends resembling little bones. They are hand-riveted together using recycled Argentium silver and topped with a hand cast aluminum S-clasp for a total of 20 hours work time.
Lightweight, tarnish-free and hypoallergenic.

Aluminum ‘starbursts’ cast in sand using a no-petroleum process developed in studio and finished with Argentium recycled silver. These earrings have subtle movement and are feather-light on the ear.

The Vessel Pendant was made through water casting; a process where molten aluminum is poured directly into water creating organic, unrepeatable forms shaped by heat and gravity.
Lightweight, hypoallergenic, and tarnish-free.
This pendant began as a snake found already deceased in the woods of northern Portugal. The vertebrae were carefully extracted from the snake and cleaned in studio, a process totaling over 12 hours. The intact vertebrae were then used as the mold in a low-waste sand casting process. The result is a direct cast that captures the detail of the original form.

A signet that keeps the texture from the sand casting process that is usually sanded away to a smooth finish. Cast using a low-waste sand process with repurposed aluminum.

ARTIFACTS
Sculptural works to adorn the body and home.
Brutal was made as part of Estúdio Morto Vivo’s APPARATUS: Hooks Made from Waste exhibition in March 2026. The purpose of the exhibition was to make a hook from at least 80% repurposed, recycled or found materials.
This was the first large-scale item made in studio and it is made from all sand casted aluminum with repurposed hardware. The larger pieces were drawn directly into the casting sand and open poured, meaning no two part closed system like most sand casting is done. The suspended hooks were molded in beeswax and casted in sand. These hooks took a total of 30 hours to create.
